Joey McIntyre to Destine Proceeds of His Shows in Hawaii to the Relief Fund for the Wildfire Victims

Joey McIntyre will wrap up his Solo Joe Summer Tour this weekend in Hawaii, and more than ever he is hoping to bring as much joy as he can.

A terrible tragedy has hit Hawaii this past August 8, when fires wreaked widespread destruction in Lahaina. The official death toll, to this date, has reached 99 in the wildfires on Maui. Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said on CNN that it is expected to increase “significantly” in the coming days”. (CNN)

More than 2,200 structures (86% residential) have been destroyed and about 222 displaced families have already been placed in housing. “People will likely require at least 36 weeks of housing assistance.” (CNN)

Joey, who will be performing in Hawaii on August 19 & 20, said on his Instagram Stories:

“Of course, my heart is broken. I know your heart is broken. But hopefully we can have some time to put a smile on our faces.”

And he announced that all the net proceeds from the Sunday show, plus all the proceeds from the merchandise all weekend long, are going to the relief fund for the victims of the fire.
